The Organizing Committee through its Research Committee invites submission of abstracts in
geriatrics and gerontology consistent with its theme, “Sharing and Integrating Best Practices in
Geriatrics in the Asia Pacific  Region.” These abstracts should be original and not be published
elsewhere at the time of submission. A copy of the Institutional Review Board approval letter must
be submitted for research abstracts.

From the submitted abstracts, the Research Committee will select oral presentations that will then
be assigned together with related papers during the “Oral Research Paper Presentation” sessions.
Each speaker will be given 10 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for answering questions.
The presenting authors of the accepted abstracts are required to register and pay the appropriate
registration before December 29, 2010. Registrations before November 30, 2010 will be charged as
Pre-registration.

Required Format for the Abstract
* Title for the research presentation
* Investigator(s) name(s) and credentials
* Institution/Hospital affiliation for the research
* Body of the abstract to include the following:
o Introduction
o Identification of the problem
o Purpose of the Study
o Methodology
o Results
o Discussion
o Conclusion
o Implications for geriatric care and future research

Guidelines for Abstract Submission
Abstracts should be on 8.5 x 11 white paper, single-spaced. Please use a 12-point font. The
following margins must be used: top 1 inch; bottom 1 inch; left 1 inch; right 1 inch. Accuracy is
critical. The abstract must be contained on one page only.
* The title should be printed in CAPITAL LETTERS, followed by the primary investigator’s name,
credentials, and institution. You may list more than one primary investigator. Only the TITLE should
be in all capital letters.
* The primary investigator(s) must be clearly identified. The first name, last name, and credentials
should be included. Institution, city and state should follow the primary investigator’s name. List co-
investigators including their first name, last name and credentials.
* Leave two spaces before the body of the abstract. The body is not to exceed 350 words.
* Submit two copies of the abstract.
o One copy must be anonymous for peer review purposes.
o One copy must have complete identification, indicating the primary investigator(s) and all co-
investigators. Include credentials. All information will be printed as submitted.

words “Abstract Submission” in the subject line of your email. Acceptable formats for emailing
include .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
* Submission Deadline: Submissions MUST be emailed by
Extended Deadline: 25 November
2010.
Submissions arriving after this deadline will not be reviewed.
* Notification of Acceptance: November 15, 2010.
