Specialists in Geriatric Medicine

    MEMBERS: definition and
    qualifications
    based on the PCGM
    Constitution and By-Laws

    Section 1.  A geriatrician is a
    physician who has completed a
    PCGM-accredited training
    program and has successfully
    passed the certifying
    examination given by the
    Philippine Board of Geriatric
    Medicine.

    Section 2. Qualifications for
    Membership –A member of the
    PCGM must be (a) an active
    member of the Philippine
    Medical Association, and (b) a
    Diplomate or Fellow of the
    Philippine College of Physicians
    OR a Diplomate of the Philippine
    Academy of Family Physicians.

    Section 3. Classification of
    Members

    a.        Associate Member.  A
    Diplomate of the PCP in active
    fellowship training in geriatric
    medicine in an accredited
    training institution, OR a
    Diplomate of the PAFP who is
    undergoing or has completed
    fellowship training in geriatric
    medicine in an accredited
    training institution.

    b.        Diplomate.  A  Diplomate
    of the PCP who passed the
    certifying examination given by
    the Philippine Board of Geriatric
    Medicine.

    c.        Fellow
    1.        Fellows of the Philippine
    Society of Geriatric Medicine
    inducted at the time of the
    merger
    2.        Fellows of the Philippine
    College of Gerontology and
    Geriatrics inducted at the time of
    the merger
    3.  A Diplomate of the PCGM
    with at least 2 years of
    unsupervised practice of
    geriatric medicine.
    4.   Upon nomination from at
    least 3 fellows in good standing
    and upon final approval of the
    board.

          d. Life Fellow

    1.        A past president of the
    Philippine College of Geriatric
    Medicine
    2.        A past president of the
    former Philippine Society of
    Geriatric Medicine
    3.        A past president of the
    former Philippine College of
    Gerontology and Geriatrics
    4.        A past chair of the
    Philippine Board of Geriatric
    Medicine

    e.        Honorary Fellow is an
    award conferred by the Board
    on A physician with significant
    contribution to the practice of
    Geriatric Medicine.

    f.        Emeritus Fellow is A
    Fellow of the association in good
    standing for at least ten years
    who has reached the age of 75,
    or who has become partially
    disabled.

    1. Meets qualifications of Fellow
    2. Oath taking in person. Signed Oath taking
    and Membership application forms
    3. Paid membership dues
    4. Submitted updated proof of PMA
    membership and PRC license
